What is Tethering? Wes Maggio from Tether Tools

What is Tethering? Wes Maggio from Tether Tools
Thank you so much Scott for the informative and helpful video on Zeppelin 47". God bless and good luck!
Great video....thank you for sharing! I am going to grab one on B&H that is now on sale for $165.
Did i miss it? did you turn the light on at all in this video?
can you do exposure ramping for day to night time lapse?
6'1" = 73 inches ? How is it over your head?
Rs?
The only thing I really disliked about it was they literally glue on the connection piece that connects to the base. Mine came undone during a shoot and swayed, I was so confused. They (Savage) legit told me to glue it back together 🤣Great concept with one major design flaw. For that alone it's no longer a part of my grip trailer.
Interesting , which part is glued on? We have them in our commercial studio and have not had it break yet. Thank you for letting me know in case something happens
Another tip-shoot while there's still a dark blue twilight sky. Looks better than a black sky in the background.
Totally agree, love Blue hour when the stars are just popping out - the sky looks amazing !
How do you add wheels to it?
casters
At our commercial studio we have separate rolling stands, but like the other comment states there are ways to buy casters or a rolling tripod rig to strap it into ( think manfrotto has one ) I never really liked those solutions , they always seemed unsafe and sketchy, but they do exist
ua-cam.com/video/uwv0V5sEvpc/v-deo.html
Thanks for the video. Just one question: what height do you recommend to set the roll at? I'm getting the 107inches wide for full length portrait.
I set mine up at 10-12 feet depending on our subject ( and angle of shooting) We had to build a stand at the studio here when a client had to shoot some NBA players, to make sure it was not intersecting their heads in the shots!
This thing can also be used in a battery pack i just discovered that.
Very cool I have not used it that way , thank you for the great idea!
@@captureschool Not a problem.
NOTE: Laser doesn't work in daylight.
Good info to know, it might not be bright enough to work in the daylight - green and blue spectrum lasers are usually much higher power than a red beam
Thank you for the review gents, But can I use this tripod for Mini Jib (Konova Jibs) kind off setup?
I am not familiar with that setup, I can try and research it and get back to you, I see that this comment was from aa while ago, maybe you have tried it since then and know if it worked or not? Let us know if you can!
I'm over 6'3" with hiking boots...looking for taller tripod. Was thinking RRS or Gitzo tall tripods, but at almost $1300...this Robus is a steal at half the cost.
Agreed and keep an eye out for sales on it sometimes you get lucky with Memorial day , 4th of July and Black Friday sales
my Lumix tether gh5 wired up is very choppy, the faster i go on movment when i proform my piano the worse, this is'nt a obs issue as its in tether preview, any help wod be appreciated
This video was for tethering photography, live view to a screen or video is a "tether" but not what we were explaining - I am a stills photographer and do very little video production. Wish I had more info
What is required to charge it from a wall outlet?
Just the wire it comes with
How do you balance slow shutter speeds (1/60th) with a 200mm lens when I thought the general rule of thumb was use a 1/200 shutter speed with a 200mm lens? Thx
Sometimes using a monopod with a gimbal head helps to do that and takes the weight off of holding the lens all day
@@captureschool Thanks. I'll try that next time. Do you have any suggestions for reasonably priced gimbals? I do have a monopod.
Same as Fotodiox.
Yes I have noticed 3-4 companies that have the same fixtures with very minor differences between them - do you have the other one?
Well in the end I got the Godox SL30, since it has many accessories and lens attachments, better suited for my productions.
Great show gentleman and lady. Looking forward to another on this topic. Is there an YT channel you'd point me to with more aviation centric photography discussions? This seems to be a very lightly touched topic.
I am unsure, I do not do that type of photography, Id suggest finding a few people on IG and FB that you love their work and see where they follow for pro tips - this was a very high level video tips for starting out
She so sexy girl bbw 😍😍
Reference the water droplet, what do you connect that to a tripod ??
A tripod with a bending arm attached or a A clamp would work too
I purchased one from Adorama about a month ago, and I absolutely love it. Best C-Stand you can have. So awesome. I can’t put in words how happy I am to have this C-Stand.
I am enjoying it as well - it was well designed and thought out !
Thank you for the tips.
No problem! Thank you for watching!
Excellent discussion. I am torn between the two material types as well. I’m leaning more towards the carbon fiber because most of my work is done close to the ground… there’s just so many more negative reviews from the epoxy deterioration that holds the carbon fiber sections together over time. Also; I would like to see another episode like this where you guys start filming after eight or so beers just to see how the conversation would go… if you guys are wasted right now I am extremely impressed at your professionalism and composure.
haha Way after hours, hmm might have to do that as a new concept - have you seen Drunk History show before - it gets quite interesting as they drunk ... if you havent seen it look it up - very funny!
Wow these guys are even more boring than pilots
Sorry for boring you, hope we can do better next time
That's funny as he'll, it does look like 👻 busters!!!
I still call it that til this day - have bought a bunch of these for our cyclorama wall in our studio when they went on sale!
Did you know you look like (and sound a little like) Mark Ruffalo?
haha! :-)
JESUS, I just bought 5 of them after this video! I knew there was something out there that covered all I needed! :D
Excellent - I wish I had 5 of them!!
Cool stuff! You guys seem really chill
Glad we could help - thank you for the comment!
so glad i found your chaneel? its so important to my health?
Thank you for watching!
Nobody talks about protecting the camera from the warm to the cold transition when you take outside photos in winter... put your camera in a ziplock bag for 10-15 minutes to allow time to adjust to the cold temperatures!
So sorry, We reside in Phoenix A.Z. so December is still shorts season, never thought to mention that - I grew up in N.J. so it is 100% worth talking about! Thank you for the reminder
Time to break out the old Vivitar starburst filter!
We have apps for that now! but yes that was a cool one in the film days!
Auto Review not working while tethered GH5 firmware 2.6, Lumix Tether 1.11 OSX Auto Review turned on (3sec) but doesn't work while tethered. Auto Review greyed out in menu while tethered as well. It seems to work as it should in this video - notice camera LCD shows auto preview ua-cam.com/video/-7vUlFY3N7Y/v-deo.html Any ideas?
No I have since sold my GH5 and upgraded it to a S1R - so I dont have it to test out
Ive been using this battery for a long time now with my same light and had no issues until last night when I was at a video shoot. Every time I plug the Tether tool into my Aputure 300d mark ii, it shuts of within 8 seconds and the battery start blinking one blue light at the top. Please help ! What can I do to fix this? Every time It turns off I half to replug it into the charger then put back on light for it to work again but it still turns off within 10seconds.
Seems like the light is drawing too much power and maybe tripped something inside?
A great discussion on a great topic. I enjoyed this all the way through. I'm going with Carbon Fiber.
Good choice!
Thankyou, carbon it will be, due to the wide variety of options re pics I take and that I may end up in water a few time. Thanks
Good luck!
hi, can gh5 do wifi tether to PC?
I usually do wired tether cords when I tether
thanks think I will pull the trigger on this
So far it has been a good experience for me, how do you like it?
Does the tripod allow you to put the camera vertically to take portraits?
Most Ball head tripods will rotate for this option
It’s point and shoot that is not Art.
Wildlife photography is extremely difficult and can take up to weeks to get 1 picture of a certain animal. It takes lots of patience and its extremely expensive. Think before you speak.
completely wrong lol
Wildlife photography is quite difficult, I took a trip with Lisa up to Alaska and trust me I have more photos that were not good because of angle, lighting, blurry puffins and just outright missing the whale jumping - it is most certainly not my thing but the shots I did nail the focus and composition on were amazing - nothing about wildlife photography is "point and shoot"
Just bought and with your video, I am now glad i did.
Hope you enjoy it! I know I love it!
Great video, thank you! We have four of these in our studio throwing a nice, even spread on our green screen wall. I'm thinking about getting some for personal use but we'll see. Godox has some impressive gear as well.
That's a great idea! I bet it has nice even lighting on the green, which is very important for keying out the backdrop
Thanks for the review now I’m sure I want two of them
Glad I could help! They have been a good addition to our gear in the studio
How are they compared to Manfroto
Solid build and have stood up to the test of time
Would you (or your viewers) have any idea why I can't upgrade the firmware on a Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX8 to ver. 2.2? It currently has ver. 1.1. I've downloaded the upgrade from Panasonic's website twice and followed the procedure precisely. Fully-charged battery, SD card formatted in camera, etc. I sure could use some help with this. Thanks!
Not sure, I have to check the firmware on my gx8 and see if it needs an update - if I find out I can post here
that zoom trick is so cool, definitely going to try it!
Have fun!
Holiday lights? Are we so afraid to upset those people we've omitted the word Christmas?
No just a title, but post 2020 probably lol
wow these were great
Glad we could help you out! New videos on the way!
V nice
Thank you happy shooting !
